Drought Tolerant Plants.

Forb’s Planting Design selected plants that relish challenging conditions transforming this stony mound into lush focal point.

Objective.

To plant up a mound of excavated stone and sub-spoil to provide aesthetic and biodiversity benefits. This mound is in the direct eye-line of a path so was an eyesore.

Forb Solution.

Research into low fertility substrates influenced the Planting Design to include a selection of drought-tolerant, hardy Mediterranean planting, combining evergreen, herbaceous perennials and grasses.

Outcomes.

Strong growth of a mix of Santolina, Catanache, Echinops, Miscanthus and others proving that matching plant and substrate can overcome seemingly hostile conditions.
