Process.

Garden Design is an 8-stage process. You may not require the Full Monty, so we provide 5 standard packages that cover most scenarios, however, we can tailor to suit any specific requirements. You are welcome to stagger the process to suit your timescales and budget.

We produce a fee proposal once we have a sufficient understanding of your requirements as part of Stage 2. We are happy to explain the drivers of cost before this point, however, please respect that we cannot give an accurate fee schedule before we understand what it is we’re designing.

Cost & Pricing Structure.

  • Garden Cost.

The cost of a finished garden is influenced by many factors, however the benefit of using a Garden Designer is that they can design to your budget and ensure biggest bang for buck. Without designer input, costly hard landscaping is often prioritised and tends to dominate, which in turn leads to a poorer end result that costs more than a well-designed space.

  • Pricing Structure.

Forb’s pricing structure is simple and transparent. We charge on a time and materials basis, with time charged at a rate of £250 per day and materials/expenses passed on at cost price. The amount of time required is influenced by such factors as the size and complexity of the space, your requirements and prevailing conditions. For illustration purposes, a Concept Design (up-to-end Stage 3) will take a minimum of 6 days effort, with expenses circa £100 giving a fee of £1,600 (larger, more complex gardens will cost more).

    This includes:

    • Consultation to understand your requirements and preferences

    • Site assessment and survey to understand all relevant aspects of your garden

    • Brief to inform the design direction

    • Concept Design - a 2D and 3D visualisation of the proposed design

Further stages will be charged on the same time and materials basis.

Forb Garden Design specialise in design, we do not install hard landscaping elements, rather we source or work with your preferred professional landscapers to deliver the hard landscaping aspects. We can Project Manage contractors and install planting, as explained above.
